The best natural anxiety remedies are the ones you can implement in the comfort of your own home on your own time. In this short article, we will present a few different kinds of remedies you can apply at home quickly and naturally.

Pause and Breathe

We often become caught up in the turmoil and stresses of daily life that we forget about something fundamental to our survival: breathing. I like to think of breathing as the ocean tide, coming in and going out. Whenever you feel a rush of anxiety coming on, simply sit back and breathe. Breathing sustains you, calms you, and centers you – use it to your advantage.

Find and Remove Distractions

Various distractions in your home environment can increase the prevalence of anxiety symptoms. The television, video games, the phone – electronics are fantastic and great to have, but like with most things, their excess can cause you stress, anxiety, and make you unhealthy. Sometimes, the best remedy is to find those things that are not adding to your life and remove them from your home.

Clean and Organize

Research has shown that an unorganized environment can subconsciously influence your mind – in a bad way. This author can relate a personal anecdote about this as well: I’ve found that cleaning my home and work space has a very positive influence on my mental state; that is, the actual act of cleaning is almost metaphorical for organizing my mind. So, spend half an hour cleaning up your space – you’ll be glad that you did.

Drink a glass of Water

Dehydration can wreak havoc on your mental state by causing all sorts of neurological imbalances. It has been linked to anxiety, fogginess, and energy depletion. Take a few minutes out of your day to drink a glass of water. Your brain will thank you.

Go for a Jog

Exercise has been shown to drastically reduce anxiety symptoms. It isn’t necessarily always effective at it, but you need exercise anyway, so you might as well try to kill two birds with one stone, right?
