I am always on the hunt for new programs which can effectively help those with anxiety to overcome it in the most affordable and efficacious way possible. To that end, I recently came across the Panic Miracle system developed by Chris Bayliss, a nutritionist and independent researcher who took it upon himself to come up with a solution for sufferers of anxiety that does not involve the toxic cocktail of drugs that we have discussed in previous articles. I decided to reach out to Mr. Bayliss in person to see what the product is all about and how it can help readers here at Natural Anxiety Meds. After reaching out to Mr. Bayliss, I received a prompt response from him – this quick response shows me that he truly cares about his product and helping others to overcome their own anxiety obstacles. He also graciously provided me with a copy of the Panic Miracle book to review for this article. Now, I’m sure you all would like me to cut to the chase and give my review of the text. Let’s jump right into it and see exactly how the process in this program works and whether or not it will be helpful for you in moving forward against your anxiety symptoms.
To begin, I thought it would be instructive to take a look at the structure of the Panic Miracle e-book and see how it moves the reader through the various phases. The program is organized by chapter and sections; each section covers a subset of a broad theme as elaborated upon at the beginning of each chapter. Chris really tries to keep you moving forward in the text so that you can maintain your momentum while still having sufficient time to try out each of the recommendations in each section. There are also a number of appendices in the text that cover a variety of subjects such as alternative treatments for anxiety, including yoga and aromatherapy, as well as coverage of different types of phobias and links to more resources on the web.
Chris sets out to accomplish a number of different goals with the text. In the first section of Panic Miracle, he tries to give you a broad overview of how anxiety functions and what the various processes are behind it on both a psychological and neurobiological level. What Chris truly wants to show you is that panic and other anxiety symptoms such as racing thoughts can capture your attention in the moment and prevent you from making rational observations – it is almost like you are in a dream, and when you are in the dream you do not think anything is amiss. It is only later (usually after you wake up) that you realize that anything was out of the ordinary. It is a similar process with anxiety, and being aware of your mind and the processes which incubate that anxiety can go a long way toward helping you to eliminate for good.
Then next section of the book focuses on a three step process which Chris designed for his own anxiety issues. This is the most interesting part of the work, and that’s why I’ll dedicate an entire portion of this review to examining the efficacy and scientific validity behind it. Of course, I cannot just give the three steps away to you, as that would be against the law and very disrespectful of the time and effort Chris has spent in developing the system. However, I will be able to tell you whether or not I found it to be effective and if I think it will be able to help you.
Finally, the third and fourth sections of the book (including the appendices) cover the things we discussed previously, including alternative therapies and a brief discussion of individual phobias that can oftentimes be correlated with anxiety and related symptoms. So, to summarize the structure of the program, it basically progresses in the following manner: Acquire an understanding of anxiety and panic –> Develop an easy-to-implement procedure for quelling anxiety and panic symptoms –> Apply other alternative therapies as needed until symptoms subside.
An Analysis of the Three-Step System of Panic Miracle
Arguably, the most important and valuable asset that Panic Miracle brings to the table is Chris Bayliss’s proprietary three-step system for eliminating anxiety and its pernicious symptoms. Let’s take a closer look at these three steps and see how they might be able to help you overcome your own anxiety, as well as see how they helped me deal with my own emotional and psychological obstacles.
Step 1: The Foundation for Recovery
In the first step, Chris provides the emotional framework you need to begin the recovery process. He teaches you how to examine your emotional state, easily withdraw from medications you may be taking such as SSRI’s and benzodiazepines, and then gives you a couple of rudimentary tools for the beginning stages of the process. You’ll learn a lot about how your thoughts and feelings interact to create the anxiety and panic you experience, and how to “disarm” these various faculties for maximum effect.
Step 2: The Emotional, Perception, and Exposure Plan
The next step that Chris guides you through is the EPE (emotional, perceptional, exposure) plan. What I discovered in this section was basically a big mixture of different techniques and systems. Chris shows you how to manage and understand your emotions – in a sense, empathize with yourself and your mind. This part sounds a lot like cognitive behavioral therapy, actually, though it is applied to the self and does not require an actual therapist in order to effectively implement it. Another key factor in this step is the dissolution of those negative self beliefs which can really impact your daily life and overall happiness. Then, for those individuals who may suffer from social anxiety and the panic attacks that can be brought about by specific, discrete situations, Chris offers a technique of gradually exposing yourself to these kinds of situations in order to garner greater understanding and an ability to preempt those panicky feelings and the results of those feelings.
Step 3: Diet and Exercise
Finally, step three introduces the essential components of diet and exercise, and how they can directly relate to psychological and emotional states. As we have covered on Natural Anxiety Meds previously, exercise and diet can have a profound effect on psychology – so much so that exercise by itself can sometimes completely alleviate anxiety symptoms. Chris will give you a great overview of how these two factors can work together, and how you can acquire the necessary nutrition you need to maintain a calm, content mind on any budget. There is definitely a lot of value with this third step, so don’t skip it!
Overall, I found these three steps very helpful in overcoming my own issues, and it does indeed match with accepted standards of care in most therapy organizations and psychological treatment centers. The advice that Chris gives us in these three steps is sound in both scientific and personal dimensions, and I followed a similar set of steps when I was going through my own anxiety crisis. If you need only one reason to take a look at Panic Miracle, then these three steps are the best possible reason, and they will truly add value to your daily life, no matter what you may be experiencing.
Are There Any Downsides to the Panic Miracle Program?
This is an important question, and to maintain a balanced review we need to take a look at some of the downsides of Panic Miracle. The first thing that comes to mind when you open the file is that it is BIG – we’re talking well over a couple hundred pages of material. So, you are going to need to be dedicated and really put some time into this course. Naturally, some people will say that isn’t a downside – and I agree, but it is important to keep in mind that you really have to put some time into these things in order to garner any benefits. I personally suggest that you spend a little time each day working through the book, rather than attempting to conquer it in one fell swoop. Maybe 10 or 15 pages per day would be the optimal amount.
Would I Recommend the Panic Miracle?
Although I had already conquered my own anxiety issues prior to reading the Panic Miracle, I can say definitively that this guide would have been very helpful for me a couple of years back. It packages all the information that you need to know about anxiety, therapy, diet, and lifestyle into one easy-to-digest book. In fact, this text would have saved me a load of time – instead, I had to come up with my own system.
